Hi, I posted previously about getting a marine-plastics fuel can without the fuel line connector on it, I think- and at last- Ive sourced some fittings, but....can anyone say what the diameter is of the fuel line? And internal diameter too? Even if roughly?
The reason I ask is its a 15 mile trip to my marina, and the fittings I found ....while they have same screw-in diameter as the can, the hose-tail barb that goes inside the fuel line is what I need to be sure of in terms of diameter!

I think the fuel line fitting diameter are 5/16"(8mm) for smaller size outboards but you can also get larger 10mm fittings as well. That was the size i ordered when i replaced my primer bulb and new inline filter on my last outboard.
Can you not take your fuel line with you or sacrifice an inch or two to make sure it fits ok. |

Hi Knighty, the problem is the marina is 30miles round trip which Id rather not have to do just to cut a bit off the fuel line! And the product is online so need to know so can call them really!
But I may end up driving there...sigh!

New question: As it has to have a tube fitted that lives inside the fuel can, and as the above fitting doesn't have the tube, I will simply get some tubing and glue it in place...however, what glue WONT be eaten by the petrol? (just petrol no oil mix)
As the fitting is at top of can I dont expect it will be immersed in fuel continually as I wont be filling 12 litres at a time, but dont want to be up a river to find the fuel line in the can comes unstuck!
or any other ideas for that bit?
