In one calendar month, 25th December, I will be 75 IF still breathing!

Advance warning - please don't all send me cards and gifts separately,. just club together and buy me a Moonraker 36 Flybridge and have it delivered, full fuel and water tanks, to Ocean Marina Yacht Club, Pattaya, Thailand.

See - I'm not being greedy, it's a 40-50 year old boat but just make sure it has new engines and is in showroom condition - Ocean Marina are pretty stuffy about scruffy boats in their marina. Oh - and it should have a decent-sized rib tender on the back with a couple of outboards, this isn't the Macclesfield y'know!

Thanking you all in anticipation of your legendary generosity,

"Hopeful" of Khlong Sam Wa.

Not for us, Covid has hardly impacted on us at all and neither have the protests or the draconian controls the Government imposed on people before.

We still find this a nice place to live for us - but then we don't have to suffer joblessness or fighting for democracy as the kids are doing. They want proper education, the abandonment of uniform and hair rules etc, plus the PM to step down and a new charter written and most contentiously reformation of the monarchy. I think secretly they want the King dead or gone because he is said to be a cruel man with too much power but of course they dare not say such things.

Have followed events in yhe east on Al Jazeera news, which seems to focus more on world news than other news chanels.Quite upsetting to see protests violently put down by corrupt regimes.
Hope the country gets sorted soon.
Keep safe.

Not at all - we had the 13th Army Coup in 2014, followed by the coup leaders creating a new charter and set of laws to suit themselves, granting themselves amnesties in the process, and creating a Senate with 250 hand-picked crony Senators who their law now says can choose an unelected Prime Minister. We finally had a sham election last year which the Government selected Election Commission said - after hastily changing the rules - that the Government supporting party had won.

A new and vibrant anti-corruption party was banned over fake charges and it's leaders are being persecuted through the courts still. Over 6 million mainly first-time voters sick of inequality and corruption voted for them, an unprecedented number for a new party only 3 months old and clearly something for the fake government to disqualify by any corrupt laws they could dredge up.

As a direct result even school kids are out on the streets in well-nigh continuous protests with the students and all demanding the Monarchy be radically overhauled, it's powers reduced, the wealth taken by the King under the military government's consent including the treasury, all palaces and every property and asset previously held by the nation was transferred to the King's personal account. This king can be researched on Google, a birthday party for his poodle at which the queen had to attend naked and share the poodles food on the floor - google it - and making the poodle air-vice marshal of the air-force. Now married 6 times shortly after the coronation and marriage to the current queen took a concubine too.The students demand a charter with laws formulated by the people not the Junta, and the immediate resignation of the Prime Minister who has, under the guise of National Emergency (the covid we don't have) declared a State of Extreme Emergency now in it's 7th month.

Some students are suing the PM and the Deputy PM over this as it breaks the Junta's own laws - little do they care because they appoint the Judges. Corruption rules and it is plain for all to see.
Take a look at Bangkok Post (https://www.bangkokpost.com) for news (biased, we got censorship here) of the protester's rallies - they are almost daily but the students are peaceful although the Government responses predictably are not.

The country's economy is going down the tubes at high speed, yet for some unaccountable reason - we suspect manipulation - the exchange rate is based on a Thai Baht value that does not reflect the country's economic state. This is reflected in massive loss of exports because other countries are doing it cheaper, and often better.

A major example is Thai rice which used to be regarded as the world's best but stagnation over the last 6 years in R & D - since the coup - means China and Vietnam have now far surpassed Thailand in terms of yield per acre and also rice type. Thai rice is hard, but consumers increasingly want softer grains for some dishes that are gaining popularity and Thailand is now, thanks to stubborn military repressions and lack of R & D investment, way behind the curve.

We got no covid so we are told. Only infections are in returning Thais from abroad or visitors as all MUST go into strict quarantine for 14 days. This they have to pay for. plus very large insurances that MUST be from Thai insurance companies only. They also must submit and have approved their intended itinerary. For tourists Vietnam and Cambodia offer better value and less problems I think!

Can't run to a Moonraker, but there is a sunken Dawncraft on the cut near me and it's only been there five years,so if you were to come and take it away I don't think anyone will be bothered.
After five years on the bottom just a bit of TLC and you will be the envy of your mooring.

Well we had it all in hand as a surprise present but as it's no longer a surprise we'll have to cancel and give you the same as last year.
