Posted - 27 May 2020 : 14:36:49 Trying to keep safe Trevor but the odds are against me - hahaha - not! 9 more reported infections with the virus over the last 24 hours, one death although they were dying anyway but they blamed Corona.
So that's 9 out of 69 million population. All of them are bloody Muslims returning from Eid in Pakistan or Malaysia or Indonesia and all get shoved into enforced quarantine. Muslims refused to wear masks or practice social distancing as it impinges on their freedom to worship their God, who rewarded them for their impudence by allowing them to get infected regardless. Many got infected over the last few weeks creating corona hot-spots.
"Thou shalt not tempt the Lord Thy God!"
Bloody country is still under curfew at night, lock-down relaxing a bit now, everyone in shops has to keep social distancing and wear a mask. It's 32c upwards - I'd say the virus got fried as soon as it poked it's ugly head out, total deaths 57 since it started, 3045 total cases, 2931 recovered, 9 new cases all returnees from Arab countries except 2 from the US. The latest death another Chinese woman. There have been NO local infections only these bloody Thai Muslims bringing it back with them while being repatriated. The Borders remain closed, all air travel suspended.
Going shopping they will not let you in shops until you show them id, sign in a book with your address, have temperature taken, use hand sanitiser provided. Being a foreigner I object to the contact-tracing stuff but Arisa signs for both of us and rather than start a fight they let it go at that.
So Trevor - we got off lightly compared to the UK, you are the ones who must take extreme, even exaggerated care. There is no cure for Covid 19, they have found that even after 14 days quarantine people are still developing infections, but the virus cannot live outside a host for more than a few days so stop it getting into your body and it dies, it hates sunlight and soap and alcohol break down it's outer shell so it dies. Not an excuse to get pissed but one for lots of extra showers and baths.Keep it from infecting people and it will die out - they think!

Posted - 27 May 2020 : 05:07:14 Who said "spiegel"? It means mirror, glass, reflector or level dependant on context. What the guy is asking is where is the water coming from?
Would be good to know if he has had a storm recently with high winds - water can blow in through the hood then or over the top of the outboard well and get into the bilges. It can blow under the hood to screen or side windows and as we all know through badly sealed deck furniture or grab-rails. I have 10 inch metal flashing over a corrugated roof here, sealed underneath with silicone at butt- to-wall joint, then Flash-band over, and then the metal flashing.
Wind still forces rainwater in and that is uphill 10 inches and then past (possibly wrinkled) Flashband and silicone gunned-up from underneath. You simply cannot underestimate the power of wind driven rain.
That is my first thought. Of course he might have hit something hard and unyielding and damaged the hull but I think wind-driven rain is the culprit.
He needs to look at recent weather if he has not suffered grounding or collision, and how rain can get in - windows, hatches, hood etc but tell him that is why boats have bilge-pumps - because water gets in! If it is not gushing in - indicating hull damage, then I'd say that it is a normal situation by and large. In earlier times we would go down to our boats and pump them out on a regular basis, these days people get all wimpish, mostly I suppose because they persist in fitting out boats like the lounge or kitchen at home in totally unsuitable materials - chipboard and the like that cannot tolerate any damp, and burst into tears when boats behave like boats in a marine environment.
