Whatever you get you must have separate well-charged batteries and not rely on the engine starting battery.

We had an Eberspacher diesel heater ducted to all the cabins - at 5kw it kept the whole boat warm, but we had two big 120 AH domestic batteries in the bank separate from the engine cranking battery and two big alternators charging the separate banks.

They absolutely sip diesel, very frugal but will not fire up if the on-board processor decides the battery is not charged enough.

The plannar diesel heaters seem to have a fairly good reputation and you can always use a separate portable outboard tank on a bayonet if petrol powered.

We have a propex blown air system on our Atlanta 24(basically a rebadged Norman) and it is decent, works with a thermostat so it's not on constantly.Have just passed(last month) without any issues, obviously ventilation is key,
Produces a dry heat for want of a better description and thus doesn't seem to create much condensation, but equally not dry in the way that causes throat/nasal dryness.
Am going boating this weekend and whilst I probably won't need it,tend to give it ten minutes to get toasty ,before bedding down.
Have previously, happily boated into December and the heating is fine, only really draining the Paloma water heater or water tanks makes me give up for winter
Propane, not butane for winter use ie red bottle.
