After a long time away from this place...... I'M BACK!!!
I'm sure many of you wont even remember me..... I have a Freeman cruiser on the Gt Ouse and used to trade insults with "df" when he was on the Ouse. I even went to a few meets in St Ives..... including the one where Ali fell in!!!
Well.... question of the day...... what make is this boat? The picture was taken on the Thames way back in 2003 ish...... Things to note.... it has a very "chubby" appearance towards the aft end. It MAY have been jet drive or possibly inboard at some time, but as pictured here it had a knackered old 2 stroke outboard.
The "pallet" on the cabin roof may not have been original.

I'm 100% there...... I just find it had to believe that I once owned a desirable, stylish powerboat..... and sold it on eBay !!!!!

Well done Fred for finding a UK brochure, the only pic I could find was a US one.

You know... the more I look at it.... the more I believe it is...
The foredeck hatch is sat on a raised moulding.....
There is a small 'step' in the cabin roof/side just before the windscreen. The front windows look 'right'.
The little cast fairleads look about right and the shape of the bow area / spray rail looks right too......
Just missing the nice bow roller casting.....
As suspected, the pallet is not OE fitment!!!

Hmmmm... I'm not convinced..... I don't remember it being that stylish.... and no "lower rubbing strake" affair....

Hi Deano, not sunk that ancient 32 yet then? If you're throwing the engines away Flinty was wanting a mud weight!
Just kidding, it was a lovely boat.
That tumblehome aft dates it to 1950's to very early 60's. Not long after that they found that hard turning made the boats dig the chine in aft and create a powered capsize risk. Where the stern is narrower at the deck than waterline is called "tumblehome" and not "chubby appearance". I despair!
Ask me how I know - Lyme Bay could tell you! A similar hull nearly killed me. CB Boats of Tollesbury ran early Microplas mouldings for a while after Microplas discontinued them, they too had a steep tumblehome - I call it the HMS Victory complex because all the old wooden walls were built with tumblehome but then no one tried to plane them!.
Still see the occasional CB around, in both 15,16 and 18 feet models.
As for your boat, I think it's a Yank, a 1960'ish Dorsett Catalina
17 foot cuddy model, designed by the same bloke who designed Studebaker cars, Raymond Loewy, and built by the Dorsett Plastics Corporation, later Yextron Inc. This one was restored in 2003 and won an award.
