Two rusty fuel tanks! (and it's not a norman so I lied in the title)
What a joy that will be to sort out, both engines will have to come out to get to the tanks and nice light weight little things they are not, in fact I will have to remove the top of the sunroof and lift them through there to get them out.
Then there's the tanks themselves, at 325 litre each I don't suppose they are particularly light either and just as much of a tight fit.
I recon this little job won't leave much spare from £2k.
I wonder if a 15hp outboard would get a princess 30 on the plane?

Confusing eh! Wroxham marine have been at thorpe on the yare for a good few years now nowhere near wroxham, just under postwick viaduct to be precise.

Marineweld made the tanks, the marina we're in (wroxham marine/sheerline) did the crane bits, I did the rest.
Cranage involved my strops on their hook to my chainblock and loose ropes so instead of being in a closed space with 1/2 ton of swinging iron we could gently lean on the engine and the boat would move under it, much safer when it's all fluid, I can live with broken bones but crush injuries are 10x worse as I'm sure you will know, had to use a cable winch to pull the engines back to the mounts as the sunroof is too far forward and it all worked very well.
Now well and truly pi55ed, Ali's in bed after lots of falling over sessions on the way home, wish I'd had a camera with me......

Well I no longer have rusty fuel tanks, I have nice shiny stainless ones fully fitted with a pair of engines sat in between again.
Even got to drive it back to it's mooring instead of having to handball it round past other moored boats with cold wet ropes to the crane and back.
Just need to recheck the engine/shaft alignment now, I think they are pretty close but better to check when the engines have been sat on the mountings for a week to let it all settle, that will be fun crammed in behind the gearboxes under the deck, anyone know any dwarf marine engineers?

Not a clue about it Trev, I don't generally have an issue with peanuts/almonds/walnuts/hazelnuts but the munchie in question was packed with loads of different nuts, my suspicion is on pistachio or cashew nuts, I had a stomach only reaction before in a chinese with the baron of benwick and put it down to coconut milk (satay did it) but it probably had a nut oil in as well so I'm probably fine with coconut milk after all, hopefully the allergy clinic will pin it down for me as it's not an experience I wish to repeat.
Got diagnosed with MS back in 2014 so going off this getting old thing, that left me unable to carry two pints without tipping one over for a few months but luckily I got most of the coordination back in my left arm just can't feel much through that hand.
It's part of the reason I want to get this work done to the boat now and not leave it a couple of years down the line when I may have to pay someone else to do it for me.
Anyone got a spare body I can have?

Oil cooler update: Core soldered and refitted with new o-rings and etch primed ready for VP green paint tommorow, cost £0
Oil side pressure tested to 95psi air pressure with no leaks, water side to 30psi with no leaks, happy chappy am I.
The one minor glitch was while bead blasting the housing my guvnor came in clutching a tray of munchies so I took one quick to get rid of him, very nice it was too, later to be rushed into hospital with anaphylaxis,no messing I went for the full monty and had to be picked up off the floor by the ambulance crew partially conscious with sod all blood pressure, the things I do for a day off work....
No I don't want any nuts!

Well found out the leaking oil cooler is the old type that doesn't have a removable front cap and costs £840 to replace (they are that much as they are handcrafted from swedish mermaids ovaries I think), managed to get it apart today and I recon it'll be a couple of new o-rings and a soldering job so hopefully got away with that bit.
Going to go for new tanks though as once a rust patch starts they tend to carry on.
Sumps have been flushed with safety clean solvent via the dipstick hole and back out the drain plug hole using an old water pump so that saves the gasket costs (£50 bloody quid each).
And found a pattern version of the cranckcase breater filters at £10 each instead of £45 each.

Well they don't look too bad inside except the base panels and surface rust outside so I may just refurb them with new bases instead of going for the £1500 new tanks option, Plenty of crud in the bottom so at least I know I've not done the job for nothing.

It's a nice idea Sonny but to get the tanks out(engines out job) and open them up enough to get the diesel residue out so any coating would stick and then weld them up again just to find out it hasn't worked just doesn't appeal, sometimes it's better to just spend the cash and do the job once.

Have a chat with a Jotun paint supplierDave as their industrial coatings and paints have a very good name in the oil rig business and I can vouch forth their two pack hull sealer personally.I know they do a tank sealer.
Could be worth a phone call
