Posted - 29 Jul 2017 : 18:58:45 Hoping to start my holiday beginning Sept on the Llangollen Canal. Any one suggest a slipway to launch my 32. What about depth of water. I don't want to have a disaster like I did on the Monmouth last year. Any offer of info appreciated |

Posted - 01 Aug 2017 : 10:34:46 I remember using Ladyline at Barbridge many years ago when I did the Langollen, don't know what they might be called now as this was in 1972.
We cruised down whatever the canal was called, I forget now, and turned up at the 3-lock staircase at Grindley Brook - and I recall I didn't flood the side either!
It was a lovely cruise, we went right up to the Horseshoe falls - a bit disappointing those.
Narrow boats go all the way so I cannot see your 32 having a problem apart from passing other boats coming the other way, the last section from Pontcysyllte to the end is rather narrow with close rock walls but it was lovely for all that.
Heaven knows if they've ruined it in the intervening 45 odd years, they've managed to ruin so much in the name of PC "National Heritage".

Finally living the dream!
