Posted - 09 Apr 2017 : 21:25:50 Hi all, hope you are enjoying the weather. We have spent most of the weekend installing a propex forced air heater. We are sure it's installed to manufacturers instruction. Fan works we can hear it click as it ttries to ignite. We think its an air lock and the gas is not gettting through. Any advise gratefully received. Been a rough weekend especially the part that involved cutting a hole in our boat. Clean underwear anyone? |

Posted - 10 Apr 2017 : 18:37:25 Further to my previous, if you haven,t got the manual. On the little black control box if you press the switch to the right it gives cold air only(for hot weather). Press to the left gives you hot air but might take 5 secs before the fan kick's in. It performs it's own safety checks.AND finally it is thermostatically controlled, ie if the dial is turned down low it will not start until the cabin temperature is lower than the dial setting.

Posted - 10 Apr 2017 : 18:19:28 The heater is locked out. This happens when you change the bottle or when you disconnect the regulator. You should have a manual which explains the fault codes which flash on the little control box. Your cure if im not mistaken is turn the little switch on /off then on again within 2 seconds.Presuming the gas isolator valve between the bottle and the appliance is on.

Posted - 10 Apr 2017 : 11:09:23 You are probably right - they use so little volume of gas it would take a while to purge it all out, much like the diesel heaters that take a bit of bleeding when first installed.
Suggest you disconnect the gas pipe as close to the heater as possible and bleed it out until you get gas only, do it into a bucket and NOT the bilge and tip the bucket over the side. It might seem idiotic but it's not, LPG is heavier than air and you don't want it in your bilge. You might need a bit of rubber tube to run into the bucket from the disconnected copper pipe.

Finally living the dream!
