Posted - 24 Dec 2016 : 18:17:48 I'm in the process of moving the forum files on the server and there may be a few login issues in the process, the chances are you will need to login again and the remembered password will need entering again, if the auto login doesn't work you may have to delete any cookies relating to this website to reset it, theres too many browsers around to include instructions for all so use your favourite search engine. If anyone has problems or finds any broken links on the main site email me at nelliesknackers@gmail.com (I'm not posting my normal email addy on an open forum). Hopefully all will be fine. Dave.
Edit: 1 glitch found, if you use the norman logo to go to the main website use the 'Home' link instead, the logo will just take you back to the forum front page. NBAS--The communal colostomy bag of the boating community.

Posted - 29 Dec 2016 : 10:52:05 The new forum software is exactly the same Clive, it's just moved on the server as Trevor can no longer use front page extensions to publish website changes and the old school way via ftp is very hard due to FP lumping several thousand files all in the root directory of the server, the forum was also installed there adding another 220 odd files into the mix. His original plan was to move to a different server but the chances of losing the forum was pretty high so a major tidy up is underway. Someone promised to do a lot of this before and gave up shortly after he started leaving Trevor with another hosting package that's never been used but no doubt being invoiced. There's still the main bulk of tidying to do but the first stage was getting the forum separated, just got to sober up first..... It's the loss of FP extension support that stopped the main site from being updated.

Posted - 29 Dec 2016 : 01:43:29 I think you guys are doing a great job, I'm curious as to why all the hard work though, is the new forum software that much better?

All in all I think you did pretty well, especially as you had to keep peddling that bike to keep the PC powered. |

Posted - 26 Dec 2016 : 17:11:01 Yeah, I used that link to directly get to the active posts. The redirect makes sure we don't lose anyone else who does the same.
Putting all the files in the root might make for a great defence against evil hackers. It's so confusing they'd probably give up and move on to somewhere tidier. |

Posted - 26 Dec 2016 : 10:24:24 Is that the direct link you've been using then Ian? I did a redirect from default1.asp as that was where the button linked to and is the shortcut I've always used, the rest of the forum asp files I've moved out of the root directory along with the image files, I've also renamed and moved 8 other directories and about 6 database files to reduce confusion.
Edit: quote: Maybe need to add a redirect from
http://www.normanboats.co.uk/active.asp
Done.
Next is the 10880 files left in the root directory.....

Posted - 25 Dec 2016 : 02:15:10 You are Vladimir Putin and I am your ally and I claim my 50,000 roubles. Please don't destroy everything! I surrender. J'adore le Russie - vraiment!
And if not - you broke the forum yer daft booger!
Actually - if one cannot get in under the old forum bookmark, get in via www.normanboats.co.uk and delete the old bookmark, select forum if that is what you do and bookmark it again.
