Currently restoring a 32 which spent sometime pretending to be a submarine before it was recovered and pumped out. The rear deck has a safety rail which has been bent out of shape quite badly (presumably as a result of going under.) Does anyone know if replacements are available or, if not, whether there are bespoke fabricators who could make a new one?? Any responses much appreciated!

Yep, you are unlikely to find a ready-made replacement but you might be able to have the existing one repaired.

Try Darren Marsh's business at Kempston, Bedfordshire.

BARWELL SPARES & SERVICE LTD
01234 852915
3 LYON CLOSE KEMPSTON BEDFORD MK42 7SB

He does stainless and aluminium fabrication, made the pulpit, stanchions, davits for my Ocean 30, all in mirror polished stainless. Mind you - we wre a bit friendly at the time but that was a couple of years back.

Tell him Clive sent you - he'll make to dimensioned sketches or if you are close might even pop down and measure up.

Finally living the dream!

Hi fitvit,
From the Norman 23's I've seen, I've never seen one with a rear safety rail. I presume the deck well is deep enough not to warrant the need for one.

I can't offer any advice, I'm a newbie to boats and am just googling my way through trying to restore my first one which is also a Norman 23. I'm just curious to know what it looks like and am wondering if mine needs one. Could you put up a photo?
