Hi guys n gals,

I'm in a bit of a predicament. I've got a 24 fitted with a Volvo Penta md11c on a Volvo 110 saildrive.
Both cylinder blocks have got cracks in them and finding replacements is proving almost impossible. One suggestion that has been made is to convert to an outboard by either having the transom modified to take an outboard or having some sort of fabricated stainless steel bracket to incorporate swim platform and fend off made.

My other option is to fit a 21hp inboard diesel assuming I can get an adaptor to fit a new engine to the saildrive. My concern with this is the md11 is a fairly low revving engine (Max 2500rpm) whereas most new engines I've looked at are 3000rpm, will this cause a problem with the saildrive?

Any thought appreciated

Steve

To be honest you cant beat a Kubota diesel very economical and reliable. They are plentiful on ebay. You will need the knowledge to marinise one. Beta marine use a lot of Kubota,s and parts are available. Look on my forum making progress and you can see pics of the one I done.
