Posted - 05 Sep 2015 : 14:30:09 Dilunet used to be the paint stripper theta was marketed for use on GRP... it is caustic soda based...... takes it's time and is expensive. I used it to strip the foredeck and side decks on a 22 foot boat..... total cost about £40-£50. Time taken - 3 weekends.
If you want to remove all the paint without sanding..... you may find it becomes a career and you will give up before it is done. There are companies that specialise in damage free paint removal using a blast system... The Farrow system is one, there are others involving dry ice and all sorts of wizardry. Expect to pay a few £1000 and have a bit of cleaning up after!!!

Posted - 04 Sep 2015 : 22:07:32 Yea Roger, the eyesore at Stanley lol. I think we spoke brielfy, we're you kind enough to leave me some antifoul? Trouble is, I dont think sanding down and repainting is gonna give a smooth enough surface. Its got about 9 layers of paint peeling off, and I think if i try painting over it, its gonna be 'wobbly'. What you reckon? |
