Hi all, Just an update + an appeal for ideas. Since buying Jacob in Nov 2014 me the wife and dog have clocked up 500 miles mostly to Ripon and back to Heck on the aire and calder. A few hairy moments on the tidal ouse but practice makes things a lot easier. Met a fellow 27 at Naburn last week-end who is based at Lemonroyd and out with his Dad on another small GRP. Went down the ouse and the Selby canal with the Theopolis which is a brand new 60 by 12 barge retailing at £320k, and by the way a lovely down to earth couple on board. He had to take the cabin roof off to get down the canal, did it no probs and overnighted at Beal lock. He is going where he wants when he wants. Help regards my water supply please. One of my twin 60litre tanks is badly split and skip fodder, do I buy one big tank or are they replaceable. The good times easily beat the bad times.

Thanks for the reply mate. In fact I had twin 60 litre tanks made from thick translucent plastic,(think of wheelie bin thickness)which were in when I got her. One has badly split and beyond repair so I am running on one tank, no probs apart from capacity. I'll find on eventually on e bay or Gumtree etc. I was just hoping they were common to Normans and on the market. Regards Phil Hunt.

Hi

There is no single right answer to your question!

If you enjoy fixing things then your old tank (presumably fibreglass?) is repairable with polyester resin and fibreglass mat. I believe there are certain resins that are preferred for dealing with drinking water.

If you want a quick solution then a modern flexible tank will fit in any space.

You may struggle to find a large rigid tank that is exactly the right size to fit in the space on your boat, however if money is no object then there are fabricators who will produce stainless steel tanks to your exact specification.

I hope this helps
