Have now taken out all the glass from window frames and have found a small piece of cotton webbing around one glass, also the centre fixed glass had what looks like 16mm x 1mm rubber holding the glass. |

It's surprising just how much cash upholstery consumes, always sounds like a cheap finishing off job but soon rattles the cost up.
I would always go for fully synthetic fabrics as natural fabrics tend to be a damp magnet.

Have now completed my first window, as df said you need to remove the steel brackets and replace them, I used ali strip that i drilled and tapped, got new felt strip from seals direct and just removed two mm from the edge and it fits perfect, got the rest of rubber from COH Baines, both company's where excellent. now on too the next one. I also asked if anyone could recommend an upholsterer and came up with Vantasia near Malvern,we purchased our own foam and material and it is now there to be done.Repainting of the boat is almost complete and then the refit starts. |

I refurbished the sliding windows on my N22 a couple of years ago. I replaced all the steel pieces that hold the sections together with Stainless strip bought from MK metals, I had to drill and tap new through holes.
The cotton based lining for sliding windows is no longer available but Seals Direct do a felted neoprene which makes a good replacement.

You have to take the whole frame out first and undo the screws on the outside edge at the join and dividing support to split the frames, the screws are quite often corroded in and need drilling out, you may be lucky.
For rubbers try wilkes or seals direct, mention this site for a discount from seals direct.
