Hi Folks , Me again but you are the best site for help and advice. Put my charged battery on and now starts no probs. Heavy rain whilst I was fitting the battery, now its seems I have got 2 small leaks on the boat. Both tiny but still annoying ie 1 drop every now and then. Port window in the rear cabin and the Jacobs hatch up front. Do i buy complete seals and if so where from or is there a modern solution to small annoying leaks. By way of payback if anyone wants any advice on crane lifts , lifting and Rigging solutions i had over 40 years in the construction industry as an erector, lift supervisor and crane appointed person.

Correct you can buy Houdini Hatch Seals but don't rush to do so. I had the same problem and spoke to Houdini, they were very helpful.
They suggested it is highly unlikely water will come through the seal unless it is damaged. They suggested the most likely area is from under the hinges then the water tracks around to the lowest point then drips.
I decided to remove the whole hatch, remove the hinges and rubber, clean all dirt away and then apply sealant around the hinge area only and refit everything. No sealant needed under the rubber seal.
This was 12 months ago and I have been bone dry ever since.
These are great quality hatches and of sound design so they should not leak unless damaged. Its worth trying the repair yourself if you are up to it....good luck ! |

First check drain holes in port windows on outside, in fact check them all they get blocked with moss. The drip channel inside may need sealing with butyl tape. Take it off and reseal. If not cured then you will have to reseal the window.
The Houdini hatch you can get seals for.
