Posted - 04 Feb 2015 : 22:11:52 I always think mooring chains are better on Armco than the hooks; before I saw the ones with rings on each end, I used a length of chain with a karabiner to connect the ends and slip the mooring rope through - never had any problems with that! |

If you are on a canal and your budget runs to it then also get couple of "staples" (aka armco hooks) and a couple of mooring chains. They can be used anywhere there is metal piling and are quicker, easier and more secure than spikes.

Posted - 03 Feb 2015 : 17:12:53 You can buy those - about 650 - 700 mm long and 20mm diameter, with an eye welded on just below the top, and a good lump hammer to drive them down.
Get 3, bow, stern, and a spring.
The cost of boating is insignificant compared to costs of a young wife and two teenage kids! |
