Hi All

So far our boating experience with our trusty N23, has been limited to the Lancaster Canal, but we will soon be moving house to the Widnes/Warrington area.We have found the B/water canal seems to be the closest to that area and we are trawling Google to get info on what facilities/marinas are available.

Has anyone out there got any first hand knowlage of this waterway ??

Any info will be most appreciated.

Ray
Thanks for the info.
Will try contacting Preston Brook,or perhaps go down and visit them.
Maybe we will end up on the same marina.

Should have added the office door shows an email address PrestonbrookmarinasYahoo.co.UK. There would appear to be spaces available as last year the abandoned and sunken boats were removed after new management took over. Some boats are moored on outside on the marina but I wouldn't know about about those charges.
There are also a few private boats moored at the kayak factory Pryanha opposite the marina. I don't know if there are any spaces available.

Hope this is of some help to you.

This time next year.....

Looking at the various pages about this waterway there is no indication that it costs anything extra at all! Maybe covered by basic BW cruising license.

Thanks Trev and Ray for your replies.

I understand that this canal is owned and licenced by the Manchester Ship Canal Co , so was wondering how much the licence is per year ?? What is the situation re moorings ?? Is it Marinas only or do they have bankside sites ,and what is the availability of moorings as we intend bringing our own boat.

Glad of any info

Hi Pete, I have my N23 on the Preston Brook Marina on the Runcorn leg of the Bridgewater. Its only a few miles from Widnes/Warrington. Don't get confused looking for it, its not actually in Preston Brook that's the Claymore Navigation Company and the Midland Chandlers. It is close by though. Office opening times are Mon/Tues 9:30-1pm. Wed/Thurs closed. Fri 1pm-4pm. Sat 9:30-4pm. Sun 9:30-1pm. The gates are securely locked so you won't get in without a key when the office is shut.

This time next year.....
