Posted - 13 Apr 2014 : 20:05:58 Hi all What's the best and easiest way to clean off the winter green muck of my 24. Bought some boat cleaner and wax thinking this would wipe it off easily but after 2hours done about half the roof. Any ideas would be appreciated. |

Posted - 17 May 2014 : 15:34:09 Well, went back to boat today and the algae on the canopy is brown now so it appears that Patio Magic is working. Hopefully when I get back from working in London for a week it will all be gone!

Posted - 15 May 2014 : 17:27:33 If the canopy is vinyl - try AutoGym Vinyl and Rubber Care. Its the stuff you use on car vinyl roofs, and interior and exterior rubber. Used it on my Norman 20 canopy and a £6.50 bottle did the interior and exterior. It cleaned off all the green gunk etc and left the canopy (6 yrs old) looking and feeling like new. That was last year and this year all that has been needed is a quick wash over with cold water and a sponge. |

Posted - 12 May 2014 : 19:45:04 It should be fine.... its quite mild and slow working. It is not a powerful cleaner, it simply kills the moss and algae so it just falls off.

Posted - 12 May 2014 : 19:27:25 Deano - many thanks for your assurance re the canopy. I forgot to ask also (although I presume the answer is yes) that as well as gel coated hull and canvas canopy I can also use on the painted deck and cabin roof? Sorry for being a PITA but don't want to come back a week later to find it's blistered and peeled off - the missus would kill me!

Posted - 12 May 2014 : 18:49:21 Absolutely.... Loads use it that way.
Spray it on with a garden sprayer on a dry day with no forecast of rain. You don't have to soak it, almost like you are stay painting. Let it dry, then walk away. A week later all the green will have gone. And it will keep it that way for months.

Posted - 12 May 2014 : 10:26:02 Hi All,
Not been on here for a while but I visited the boat yesterday and it's got a fair bit of algae on it so am going to try Patio Magic. When I googled it, it says "for used on outdoor hard services". Can anyone tell me if it can be used on a canvas canopy as well?

Posted - 24 Apr 2014 : 09:01:41 Hello Sharpbri,
As I am old, lazy and suffer from Sciatica, I got this company to do my 27ft Norman and a great job he did too. Price was reasonable and the boat looks great.

Posted - 13 Apr 2014 : 21:37:39 Patio Magic..... spray it on and walk away. 5 days later all the green will have gone. It's amazing stuff. About £9 from B&Q.

Posted - 13 Apr 2014 : 21:36:05 Try Farecla cutting compounds, expensive but brilliant on gelcoat, or there is a 3M product called Finesse-it which is a finer abrasive but equally good. If your boat is painted, I'm afraid I have no answers - someone else on here will though.
Good luck |
