Posted - 29 Aug 2013 : 22:05:10 Hi can anyone tell me if there is a conversion and how difficult it would be to carry out to change an outboard with a pull start and a tiler to fit my set up which is a electric start with a quick silver controls on my Norman 20.

Posted - 01 Sep 2013 : 10:58:06 Try this link to see which parts look to be the same number. https://webapps.brunswick.com/literature/literatureSearch.do Any sensible manufacturer will use the same parts where possible to keep costs down.

Posted - 31 Aug 2013 : 15:41:16 I'll bet you could swap the bits from your existing enging both being fairly new mariner's, what year is the 15hp? I'm sure the 2000 9.9's were exactly the same as the 2000 15's except for the carb, later years were a different powerhead but bet the ancillaries are the same.

Posted - 30 Aug 2013 : 20:41:34 Thanks for the reply, still not up on the outboard info so not sure whats what, not even sure it all makes sense but i'll have a go.
My outboard is a mariner 9.9hp 4 stroke year 2000, I have a quicksilver control with forward, reverse, ignition is fitted within the control at one end also the choke is on the ignition when you press the key, and there is a fast idle lever, not sure about starter or solenoid I presume they are within the engine. May be I should post some pic of it.
The outboard I have been looking at is a mariner 15hp 4 stroke but with tiller and pull start with charging relay.
Does that make any sense.

Posted - 30 Aug 2013 : 07:12:08 Tiller to remotes would be no problem just have to buy a few bits of linkage i did my honda cost about £150 so not cheap. but would think to make electric start would be more difficult and expensive |
