Trip to Stoke Bruerne

Tuesday: 12.30pm start. Made the Navigation Inn at Kilby Bridge, 8.45 in time for last food orders. Great food as usual.
Wednesday: Lazy start. 10.30am. Moored somewhere past top of Foxton flight at 6.45pm. Ate on board. Even better food!
Thursday: 9.55 start 1st tank ran out at bridge 20(2 and a bit miles before Crick tunnel.) Arrived Watford Flight 2.45pm left at 4.00pm. A couple of chaps from the boat behind helped us all the way through. Many thanks to them. Filled the empty tank at Watford Gap Services. Still find that surreal!! Stopped at Watling Street Bridge for the night. The New Inn provided food.
Friday: 9.20 leave; share the locks with a couple on a narrow boat. Uneventful cruise. Arrived Stoke Bruerne 3.13pm. Chilled out until Sunday. Ate at the Indian restaurant by the lock, great food.
Saturday: Lazy day visiting the museum and pubs. Why is the toilet emptying station at the bottom of the flight!!
Sunday: Left about 8.30am. Went food shopping in Blisworth. Restarted cruise about 10.00am.Topped up fuel tank at Watford Gap. Arrived at Crick 6.30pm. Nice food at Crick Wharf. Place called The Moorings.
Monday: Left 10.30am. Arrived Foxton Top lock at 3.00pm. Went down and moored at the bottom. Spent the evening in the Foxton Locks Inn.
Tuesday: Left 9.15am. Pleasant cruise to Kilby Bridge arrived 3.15. More food in The Navigation.
Wednesday: Left 9.30am got as far as Kilby Lock and my key jammed in the lock of the ground paddle. Tried everything, WD40, pliers, hammer finally phoned River Trust. Very helpful, they had a couple of men out within half an hour. They did what I did WD40, pliers, hammer, then decided to tape the paddle up and get a locksmith. Fortunately a chap on a boat coming through lock had a spare key which he kindly sold to me. On the way once more, now 11.15am. Just as we were leaving the guy from River trust gave a triumphant yell, he had finally gotten the key out! Great, now I had a spare. Had to change tanks again at Birstall Lock. Arrived back to home moorings in Thurmaston at 6.50. Great trip!!

Great Pics John - But None of Blisworth Tunnel !!!!

We had the mis fortune of breaking down in Dads Tube in there on the way back from the Thames (I'm still laughing about it yrs later much to Chez's disgust !)

We'll be out this weekend around Zouch if you fancy a beer

Great photos thanks. One word of warning don't leave your canopy on the back cabin roof, a gust of wind or a tree branch and its gone to the canal depths ( they sink) leaving you with a large bill. Best to roll them up and put inside the cabin.

I started life with nothing and I still have some left
