Hello everyone. We have decided to keep the boat after all and put her on the Broads. I have two questions The front windscreen is awful when the sun shines (crazed Perspex!). I have to hang out of the side of the boat to steer! I can get some new glass cut using the existing as a template. But how to get it out? Can I just dismantle the aluminium frame from the top (the little nuts seem free) and perhaps the side frame and pull the window out? I will keep the original triangular side perspex. Any tips would be very helpful. The second question - The boat in on a decent trailer. I have a Volvo V70 estate 2.4 non turbo petrol. Will it do the job? 300 mile trip (Wales to Norfolk) no major hills - apart from the grind up Birdlip! (Sth of Cheltenham). Or can you recommend a Person -with a chunky Tow Car who can. As always looking forward to your advice. Many thanks. |

Thanks everyone for replies. Will try the T cut first - nothing to lose! Nice to hear the old Volvo could do the job. Will report back. |

I use to have a p plate Volvo v70 cd estate, towed my norman 20 no problem. |

yep, I used t-cut on a deep scratch/scuff in our caravan window, took a while but it was deep,worked a treat..

My 20 has perspex, and like yours it was near impossible to see through when the sun hit it. Following advice I'd seen on here, I used T-Cut, which has improved things no end. Well worth a try for very, very little expense. |

Windscreens on 20's should have been toughened (tempered) glass so probably a previous owner met a bridge and replaced with perspex.
The cost of boating is insignificant compared to costs of a young wife and two teenage kids! |

what it weighs to keep within the law

Should just be okay towing as spec on your car says max 1600kg with a braked trailer. A 20 bare is 830kg, 50kg or so for a smallish outboard but add on 100 or so cwt for other boaty stuff, trailer weight around 2-300 more so probably around 1300kg.
Thought the 20 had all glass windscreen? |
