Hi all I'm a newbie member and having just bought a Norman 23 and had the outboard serviced at Beeston Marina want to bring the boat a bit closer to home ( Sheffield)
So will be coming up the Trent to moor at Thorne Marina.
I've found on the tinker web that the Trent is tidal up to Keadby Junction and was just wondering if this causes any problems?
I've only got a 10 hp Honda outboard?

Thanks in advance
Stevie

Cromwell to Torksey would be your first run (easy nothing to worry about)

Overnight on the pontoons & get timing advice from the lockies - Would recommend going a bit earlier than they say as they tend to time the smaller cruisers similar to the Tom Thumbs !
Arriving before the ebb really starts running is the best as it makes the 'round up' turn into Keadby easier - We ran down last year & even the Lister powered Narrowboats Sewer Tubes managed the flow ok (With a little black smoke!) Phone keadby lock as you come under the M180 & book your pen up.

After that its the Stainforth & Keadby & S&SYN , fairly straightforward (Indeed straight!) just the odd malfunctioning bridge to worry about!!!

Even tho the Outboards been serviced - Have a couple of shakedown runs before voyaging home , new spark plugs & other parts have been known to fail !

If you dont fancy the Trent I can recommend the long way round via T&M , Macc , Ashton , Rochdale , Calder & Hebble , Aire & Calder
Only a err few more locks.....!!!!!

Trent is tidal from trent falls to cromwell lock, check travel times to run with the tide and go past turn offs if needed so you can manouvre against the tide, it's much easier.
If aiming for a lock give them a ring for best arrival time.
