Posted - 07 Jun 2013 : 19:11:24 Has anyone managed to fit one of these rudders to a Honda 8hp outboard while the boat and engine is in the water. I can't moor the boat with the stern to the bank due to lack of space, I can't reach the outboard from the bank and can't reach over the outboard from in the boat. I also don't fancy going in the water to do it! Any ideas?

Posted - 28 Jul 2013 : 13:11:23 ps... preston Brook has a slipway so at least we can clean, check and oil the leg and put the rudder on to see how it goes Pam

Posted - 28 Jul 2013 : 13:09:18 We cant get out of water space until next spring so we are doing the inside and topsides from Sep through the winter and the leg recon/service will have to wait to be done at the same time as the hull repaint.. it will be interesting to see how the twin rudder performs Pam

Posted - 28 Jul 2013 : 10:44:23 I have just stripped my enfield leg ready to recondition so I will be making my own twin rudder. Hopefully I will giving my 32 its first test after a total refit at the end of the year when I put it on my lake. So I will let you know how the twin rudder performs. Bob |

Posted - 28 Jul 2013 : 06:44:04 I saw them and thought they look really good, but at the time we bought ours they were not suitable for the enfield leg so we couldnt have one.. have they been modified since? Pam

Posted - 27 Jul 2013 : 15:45:20 Hi Ray47.. Did you get your rudder on yet? We are rudderless at Preston Brook also. my bloke Steve and I bought a "Bob Knowles" one from a guy on here and havent got round to fitting it yet.. found lots more wrong with the boat so we are doing a refit/repaint/re-everything really... but she was a B**** to steer without..I dreaded us having to pass anything lol, getting stuck in now about a year ++ after we intended to Pam

Posted - 09 Jun 2013 : 10:21:19 Thanks for your suggestions. I should have thought of the slipway, I clipped it 2 days ago with my prop! Hopefully once I get the rudder fitted I'll have a bit more control! I'm sure the other owners here (Preston Brook Marina) will be very pleased

Posted - 07 Jun 2013 : 20:07:22 Hello Ray 47. Have you thought of borrowing a dingy and after turning your boat round so that the bows face the bank, tilt the outboard up and fit the rudder using the dingy to work from. Best of luck. |
