Well the sun blazed over Lancashire all weekend
to hot for my misses on lock duty (well its womens work anyway)
I had to stay in the boat and make sure the refreshments didn't
fall over

Well...

Weekend started off ok on Fri , bit of a rush out from work that meant I left the bag with the beer in the car (Catastrophic!).

Run down to Barrow with the youngest to meet Chez.

Sat - Overcast at the start & low batteries from the night before so we decided on a run downstream to Sawley rather than the planned pub stop at Zouch. Arrived back to Zouch around 7pm to find John & Glenys in their 27 already moored. So a meal in the pub & a run home with them today.

Time will tell if they will cruise with us again As Chez insisted John entered & exited locks on one gate !!!!

A good day today with good company & Johns 27 looks great with its repo badges on the side (Wonder where he got those from......)

Sods law! I went out for 3 nights last week. Tuesday ok. Wednesday was a feat of endurance, rain all day, rising river levels 9 inches in the time it took to have a pint and a half in the Trout at Tadpole Bridge on the Thames. Damp, I turned back and battled with the engine throwing a hissy fit not continuing to run when drive selected all afternoon. At one stage after casting off from a lock mooring I had to get the emergency paddle out , made it back to Kelmscot and a few consoling beers for the night. Thursday not so bad for both weather and engine and Friday was nice tied up at the home mooring. Make the most of the good weather folks, I'm off again in 2 weeks bound to chuck it down!

Looks like this weekend will be the first time we cast off the ropes this yr

Been a very late one for us after Chez suffered a bout of pneumonia then work and family commitments boogered the last few weekends.

IIRC it was 2007 when we left it this late for our first trip - That yr gave us a fantastic summer trip (I recall the comments after our 2wks cruise 'Where have you been to get that tan - Err Birmingham '

Heres to a good summer
