OOhhh!! Just had a quick Google around and found one big marine insurance company in Brighton....... No names, but a BIG one.... it is the parent company to Craftinsure??????

Thanks for the comments.

Yep, seemed strange to me to. Better not mention the name but they are based in Brighton.

I did think about renaming the boat and doing her up again but was a bit concerned it was to easy to track back to me if information was held on some sort of insurance database. I'm probably just being paranoid but couldn't really afford to spend all the time doing Meggy up to my specification only to perhaps then find I had to sell her anyway. Seemed like a better idea to let someone else choose what canopy, engine etc to fit and for me to start afresh.

Seems strange that they won't let you rebuild the 23 and keep it insured at that boat club but will insure you if you buy another boat...baffled.

So if your boat had it's name changed would the insurance company know?
Do tell us the company as they will lose any custom they get from here, I would guess in any case you would go elsewhere so fix the boat and get a better insurance deal, If you go for gjw direct give them my policy number so I get a kickback or go for craftinsure, if it's either of them I realy want to know....

Tony

Thats terrible - Out of interest what insurance company has treated you in this manner ? Be nice to know in case similar circumstances happen to other members!

If you still want to restore Meggy you could always change the name & insure with another company.
