Hi all,
Bought a new boat a month ago - a Shetland Black Prince with petrol onboard engine which I also hope to use for coastal. Been busy since I trailered it back to Worcestershire from the broads.
In a month I have stripped all of the old shot antifoul off with a 2" scraper, antifoul, cleaned, compounded and polished. Still got plenty to do but got the boat on the River Avon and hoping for some trips before the winter.
Been wondering about insulating the cabin so that I can use the boat in comfort without condensation in cold weather. Has anyone done this? If been recommended a product called plastazote. Can anyone recommend any other good ways?

I put 12mm closed cell foam (Karimats used for camping) arond the bunk areas prior to refitting the lining panels on the rear cabin of my Conquest. That seems to have made some difference when I've stayed on board overnight the last few weeks. Other than that I'm of the opinion (for what its worth) that it is easier to insulate your self for warmth and keep high levels of ventilation to minimise condesation. If your looking into 4 season sleeping bags I can recommend HiGear Summit 350 a very high spec, well made bag from a 'budget' manufacturer (£50 from Go Outdoors) beats most of the higher priced ones, supplied either left or right zipped. |
