Posted - 04 Sep 2012 : 21:07:56 Evening all,the time has come to check my engine oil as i don't think the last owner would of carried out any maintanence,i have had a look at the engine and can't see a way to lift the cover. The engine is a yamaha 9.9 electric start the engine is pale gray, there is a little square button on the front but i can't see any hinge type thing on the back so i'm reluctant to press the button as i don't know what might happen, also what type of oil would i need to buy. thanks in advance Bill
I have just googled the engine and it looks like a 1986 model. |

Posted - 05 Sep 2012 : 18:06:33 Outboard hoods don't normal have hinges just lugs on one end and a catch on the other end. I would think the button is for the catch, give it a push, you can't do any harm i wouldn't have thought. |
