Having just found that the piece of Hardwood that I was going to make my hand spike out of has a split in it

Traversing from Keadby to the Calder & Hebble any ideas where we could purchase one from ?

Some of the locks on the Calder and Hebble have a sort of ratchet affair operated by these "Hand Spikes". Same result in opening and closing paddles.

Its a while since I had to buy one but I think they are very "local"! I think I got mine from Brian at Shepley Bridge, BW, or whoever they are now, sell them so might be worth asking at Sawley??? If you look on Martin Clark's site there should be details of making one as I recall.
