Posted - 19 Aug 2012 : 18:47:31 Hundreds of people turned up. Lots of money was raised. I think I heard Mark Wesley (proper Radio Lux dj) muttering "Never again", as he left the boat.
When I was originally given this lovely old wreck of an ex-Norfolk Broads cruiser to renovate, I never envisaged this madness going on.
To cap it all, a specially made jingle was commissioned, at great expense I'll have you know, and it can be heard on my blog www.aboatformypotplants.blogspot.com

Posted - 21 Aug 2012 : 13:09:09 But I'd like to find out more about its history as in whether itr really was an ex-hire boat on the Norfolk Broads, which is what I had been led to believe somewhere along the line.

Posted - 21 Aug 2012 : 13:06:30 Right! It's a Callumcraft, and I won't have any more of it! And it does look quite similar to the pic on the home page. So that's settled then. At least for now.

Posted - 21 Aug 2012 : 11:59:13 You could go to a funfair to play dodgems! Could be fun oop north though on the busiest week of the year! If he recovers from some lurgi, Ollie may also pay us a visit that week. |

Posted - 20 Aug 2012 : 21:08:08 Compare Neils boat to that on the front page of the site. The window setup looks identical. I wouldn't mind betting that this Childs chappy maybe had something to do with Callumcraft before Teal! Odd isn't it how so many old boat brands originate from that area. I've never seen a Teal of any sort that looks remotely like that! Where'd Peter Boatmad??

Posted - 20 Aug 2012 : 20:40:15 Go steady Trev, an english tenner is worth a lot more than a yorkshire tenner! You out on the broads any time soon?

Thank you SO much. At last, a definitive answer to what my Boat For My Potplants actually is. And the plaque on the rear deck says "Built by F.H.Childs, Rochdale". So that's that! Many thanks!

Yes yes yes yes yes - I think Neil hopes he's got an original Sunseeker or is just denying the fact so we don't kick him off here

Posted - 20 Aug 2012 : 17:58:29 Ah thanks. I'm still trying to get to the bottom of what it was and where it came from. One of these days when I have a spare bit of time I'll do some proper research. Meantime, I'll just keep taking the tablets.

Posted - 20 Aug 2012 : 07:36:24 That was never a broads cruiser, more aimed at canals than anything hence the 6'10" beam.
