Posted - 19 Aug 2012 : 17:35:34 Never had any trouble whilst out on the boat..until today.
Passed a load of fishermen in a contest, always try and give them a wide berth as i do a bit of fishing myself. Anyway passed one chap who had what looked like his wife/partner stood behind him with two lads around 15 at a guess, one of them thought it would be funny to throw a stone about the size of a marble at us that hit me on the side of the forehead then bounced onto my wifes lap. Was well pi55ed off so threw a few choice words back at them but couldn't stop as had boats behind me.
On the way back home the match was still on, still seething i was getting prepared to make a windlass shape indent in someones head but there was only the fisherman sat there who didn't get a wide berth this time but denied all knowledge of the incident

Posted - 20 Aug 2012 : 19:24:23 It was on the Avon through Evesham town, have spoken to a someone local who is involved with the local angling and apparently it was a John Smiths qualifier for the big fishing festival in town over this bank holiday and there was some big name fishermen present.
I assumed the idiot was with the fisherman but with hindsight he was probably just a spectator just watching and got bored !!
I have lodged a complaint with the local angling society who control these waters who are going to investigate the incident. |

Posted - 20 Aug 2012 : 09:08:10 I would deinitely have stopped. They shouldn't get away with that. The boats behind might even have stopped to help, if they saw what happened. Jim |

Posted - 19 Aug 2012 : 22:08:01 Hi As canoeist we have similar problems we talked to our local angling clubs and are advised of fishing competitions. As a club we avoid these events with a policy of live and let live. A high vest with environment agency on it seams to promote a degree of cooperation with the clubs. Unhelpfully clubs were advised that we were racing that weekend through there swims; perhaps we should do the same. Pete
