Posted - 16 Aug 2012 : 08:01:57 Hi all There are many boats moored up illegally on the Thames used as houses boats they are homeless or opt out of society. We were moored on a pubic mooring overnight in Reading when a homeless person approached saying would we rent him our boat has the Social service would accept this as an address and pay. This he would spill 50/50. I asked what happened to his old boat that he lived on it for 3 years. He replied the Environment Agency reclaimed the boat as it was stolen. When someone is mooring on a farmers land he removes it as squatter leaving mess and hazard to his livestock. This cost money and time then another person moors up.

The cost of boating is insignificant compared to costs of a young wife and two teenage kids! |
