Hi all,

Just finished restoring my Shetland Black Hawk cruiser which has a 60hp outboard. As the speed limit is 6mph on the River Avon I am unable to give it a good blast.

Does anyone know a good place I could slip my boat in a relatively safe area with parking within two and a half hours drive from Worcester?

Is there a safe bit of coast or a lake anywhere without a speed restriction? I have a tidal insurance policy through Craftinsure.

Many thanks

Billy

IS there anything in particular I need to be aware of?

Weston used to be my local town, remember the Knightstone slipway, getting to the beach won't be a problem, finding the sea will be the issue.
I remember Uphill towards Breandown always had a lot of boats moored in the River Axe with a yard at the village.

I cannot remember it was so long ago, i know we misjudged it once by Brean and came back to find a friends Fiat which he left on the beach and all we could see was the top 4" of the roof

Thanks guys,

Got myself a chart for Weston area. Will do a recce of the slipway around Knightstone slipway before taking the boat down. How were the tides Knighty? My back up engine is only 4hp. Got lifejackets and can borrow a handheld vhf. Think I'll buy some flares as well. IS there anything in particular I need to be aware of?

Thanks

Some of the ski clubs in the Cotwold water park may be able to help on a one off visit for a contribution to club funds. One lake just east of Fairford is/was a power boat racing venue.

I would say try around Weston-Super-Mare or Brean area, that was my old stamping ground from Evesham when i was younger with ski boats. Easy enough drive straight down M5 from Worcester two hours max. Hard to find lakes these days for speedy things.

Try http://www.boatlaunch.co.uk/

That is as good as you will find for that kind of information.
