Where do other Conquest owners keep their outboard engine remote fuel tank when it is 'in use' i.e. connected to the engine? I am retaining the rear cabin so slipping the tank (hulk 22ltr.) partially under the splashwell with the pipe going out to the engine via the splashwell side wall is neat and tidy but does it comply with the regs? Also the filler cap is vented to allow air in but it will also allow fumes out so there is a hazard.
I accept spare fuel containers couldnt be stored in the rear cabin, I read that in the regs but its the 'in use' tank location that I couldnt get a definative interpretation on. As recommended, refueling will be done off the boat. If its the case that it can't go in the rear cabin then the options seem to be a basket hanging off the transom (vunerable to damage, difficult to get to to remove for refilling, exposed to the elements) putting it on the rear cabin roof ( would have to go in a sealed box with a drain down to water level in case of a leak, takes up useful deck space) or a shelf above the engine (obsructs the view out the rear window) So any constructive ideas, thoughts or solutions would be appreciated. The Conquest I briefly owned had the fuel tank stuffed in the O/B well IIRC.
Not ideal I thought as a removed the BF15 & tank for my N22

On my conquest I got some ally angle and made a frame which fitted it above the engineand bolted it done on to where the gutter goes round the back towards the rear window made life abit tricky tilting the engine but much better than having the fuel inside.

I believe an 'in use' portable fuel tank can go pretty much anywhere, although as you say petrol fumes in the aft cabin will be unpleasant and a hazard.
