Posted - 29 May 2012 : 19:16:45 Evening everyone, anyone know what I would be able to use to clean and restore my blue hood on my 23? it looks very shabby and is faded here and there, doesn't leak but needs a good clean and some sort of treatment. Thanks Mike |

Posted - 30 May 2012 : 19:50:53 Hi guys, A slightly different tack here referring to re-waterproofing rather than cleaning and just a thought, but for the canvas type hoods, that are vinyl backed, has anyone tried using the wax type sprays? You know the ones that are used to re waterproof wax jackets/tents etc? If it is practical it might work out a lot cheaper and stop a lot of the fading?????? |

Posted - 30 May 2012 : 16:40:42 I used this on a vinyl backed canvas canopy. VERY expensive and does not go very far but does do an excellent job. |

Posted - 30 May 2012 : 11:29:34 Thats the stuff, only use it if it's a vinyl type roof though. You can get canvas canopies which have more of a dull matt cloth look to them. Few tips and other chemicals in below link..

Posted - 29 May 2012 : 21:00:50 I swear by Autoglym vinyl and rubber care, i know you can get stuff from chandlers etc but i just clean mine with a mild soapy water, rinse off, let it dry then a liberal spray and wipe the stuff off. Usually do it every 3 weeks or so and keeps the canopy looking like new and nice and supple. It's also handy for loads of other rubber trim and stuff around the boat. Usually catch the Halford 3 for 2 offer. |
