Posted - 31 May 2012 : 22:36:18 Not a problem I seem to end up down the a1 once a month or so, and a similar amount up to York next time I'm out I'll pm you and let you know,

Posted - 31 May 2012 : 22:22:41 It's the valves I worry about, I have an isolator just above the cooker, so never rely on them totally. But if you are heading down the A1 in Cambridgeshire, or can drop it at my Dads in York, I would be eternally grateful. Thanks

Posted - 31 May 2012 : 18:53:03 I know it's probably good for longer than a new or, but I got so annoyed I'd removed the piping to the point where I could get the bss signed off so now it's a new installation.
Deano it is the one with a red knob for the oven, I'm based on the bridgewater up near Liverpool but work all over so I can put it to one side and drop it off when I'm heading your way if thats any use.

Posted - 31 May 2012 : 11:19:35 Mine is at least 46 years old and still going reasonably well.
One ring will blow its flame off the ring if the other ring and the oven are all on at the same time.
That contradicts my logic of having less pressure when 2 rings and the oven are on, whereas you should have more pressure when just one ring is on. But no, its backwards.... is this the regulator????

Well I guess you will have a shiny new unit , but IMHO you cant beat a old calor (Apart from lack of flame failure - Which you must be aware of!) To quote our BSS man - "Dont expect a new cooker to last 40yrs , I usually start failing them after 5-6 yrs due to burner failure !!!
Our Calor is now 44 !!!! & still going strong

Posted - 30 May 2012 : 16:15:12 If it is the Calor one with the red knob for the oven? I could be interested in it for spares, if no one wants it as a going concern.
where are you located?

Posted - 29 May 2012 : 22:24:34 Redo your piping - Its not too difficult & a cooker aboard transforms the boat !
Whats actually wrong with the gas pipe (Before you rip it all out) - If its not too late !
