Thinking of replacing the carpet in the cockpit area of our 20.
I do like the Dek-Tek teak flooring look but cannot justify the cost, think i priced it up at around £150 before you add glues and caulking etc. They do make made to measure panels which would be nice but shudder to think of the cost.
Would a decent wood laminate floor non slip as possible make or good job or am i asking for trouble if or when it gets damp jumping in and out at locks etc.
I'm only looking at an area about 6ft x 2ft.

Edit, just got a price for Tek Dek to make up a panel approx to that size and it was £312 plus delivery

We used vinyl planks from Homebase on Hunky 'B' - one or two in the cockpit lost their "sticktion" but we're easy to replace. Cost effective and easy to keep clean.

Thats a good idea Clive, never knew you could get vinyl planks.

Found this place and have ordered a sample to have a gander at

Hi Have you looked at the wood effect vinyl planks? Self adhesive and reasonably water tight. I used them for the back of my 20 and they look really good. Avoid very ridged versions though as they are hard to keep clean.and not much more slip resistant.

Thanks for the idea's, my boats on the water now so might think about wood for next season.
Really fancied a Tek Dex panel but cannot justify that cost for a small bit of floor, see them a lot on sea power/cruiser boats and they do look good but i suppose a few grand if you have 50 grand to spend on a boat is peanuts.

Don't know if it's the kind of thing you're looking for but I made a floor using planks of wood from wickes, cut to size, reinforced under with braces and a hatch door towards the stern and good coat or two of varnish.

All in cost me about £40 and seems to be very strong. Only down side is the work involved making it about 2 weekends but looks nice.

You could use a vinyl in a stud version, I did this a few months ago. The rubber stuff would be as dear as the tech deck. It gives you the safety element and easy to clean. Laminate is a bit tricky as if you dont get the expensive stuff water damage is the outcome.
