Hello All,

Well finally I have mastered the art of uploading photos on this fantastic forum !

I bought this Norman 22 mk1 a few months back to do a complete restoration on her, she had been used for sea fishing in a nearby village from where I live so a little neglected on the inside but nothing that wouldn't stop me from using it as it was but I have decided to do a renovation on her.

Its not going to be a quick job as where I live in Scotland we do get alot of rain, however, I am lucky to have her in my driveway at home so can work on her as and when the weather allows.

A few photos of her when she arrived ;

Just going to check that these photos upload ok then I will start with more information about her that I have and my working progress so far.

Kind Regards,

Dan.

ps, I am very open to comments and suggestions, please feel free to stop me in my tracks as I do listen and want to do it right.

Hi df,

I have the whole part of the Z-Drive mount painted in an aluminium primer and will cut it in with a specified paint from International, also new anodes have been ordered.

Thanks for the advice.

Cheers,

Dan.

Clean an inch of antfoul from around that outdrive, it will encourage galvanic corrosion if in contact, don't leave any on the aluminium.

Hi Stan,

Thanks for your comments, the fendering I am going to use which was delivered last week is product PVC 370/15 from this website ;

http://www.littleportboathaven.co.uk/FENDER%20RUBBERS.htm

I had a 15mtr coil delivered and both the body and insert are black, also I got 2 of the PVC 370/AC which are Cast aluminium end caps to finish it off. I must say that the quality of the fendering is really good so hopedfully tomorrow I will get it all fitted.

Cheers,

Dan.

DanEarl

She does indeed look stunning - what a transformation!

As a matter of interest, what fender do you intend to fit around the gunwales?

I see Nige, sounds good and looking forward to following your restoration.

When you do go sailing, just keep a good eye out ..........

Cheers, Dan.

The colour scheme I am putting her into is the old white Star Line colours (Titanic's owners). She will be used to help advertise the Titanic in Lancashire Museum up here in Colne, of which im Curator. As Normans dont have 4 75ft high funnels, thats why the topsides get the colour buff Lol

Hi Dan,
She looks stunning mate - bloody well done. I hope I can get mine to look as good.
My colour scheme will be red anti foul, black hull sides with a yellow band at gunnel height, and light buff topsides.

So just a case of waiting for the paint to harden and then fit the new fendering and also all of the new stainless steel 'deck hardware'.

Dan.

And now, after 2 coats of Inertational Pre-Kote Undercoat and 2 coats of International Toplac gloss I have come to this ;

So a solid 5 days of sanding down and filling then more sanding and more filling and the end result after antifouling is this ;;

Thanks for your reply and comments, I am using it as a template for my new stainless one, as it is not that heavy but bulky I think postage would cost a fair bit but when I get it back I will be offering it and also other older fittings from my boat for sale on this forun - well not for sale but for the cost of postage only.

Regards,

Dan.

Dont bin the bow rail , if its painted , give it a sand & a repaint & put it up for sale

While most will want Stainless , others will still buy if the price is right

Adi

Sewer Tubes ? I'd rather have a D**ncr*ft (Only Kidding)
