Steering for Honda Outboard

Ignore the green garden wire, which is a temporary bodge because the ball & socket had some slack in it!  On that subject - should it be "rubber" filled like a car steering joint, or just metal-metal?

carpetbloke	Posted - 04 Apr 2012 : 14:52:53 My Honda BF15 steering arrangement looks almost identical to your original yamaha pics. My bracket on the Honda is offset to one side say the holes on the right of your first picture. The swivel similar to your second pic should be enough to tilt the outboard with the remotes attached. Mine is a teleflex which is a modern replacement for an ancient Ultraflex. I found a new steering set up was not too dear but why get one if it`s not necessary.
adi-n-chez	Posted - 03 Apr 2012 : 17:45:06 I have the original Teleflex Steering on my 22 (Also Transom tied) Works fine bolted to my BF15 Honda (Similar to yr 2 stroke I would guess) No need on ours to remove to tilt. Adi Sewer Tubes ? I'd rather have a Dncrft (Only Kidding)*
df	Posted - 03 Apr 2012 : 17:15:24 If your cable has the nut to attach to the tilt tube fit it that way if not just modify the existing cable mount to line up direct with the bolt on the motor, the worst that will happen is you will need to disconnect the steering to tilt the motor, that is why they do it through the pivot pin.
