Posted - 04 Mar 2012 : 19:05:54 Hi all. i have a N 24 with a volvo inboard fitted when built, this has a leg which sits in a tunnel the prop is about 9" inside the tunnel and collects all the rubbish ,weed and any thing thats slung in the cut the final straw was a nylon bag that sand and gravel was delivered in.( Coventry canal avoid if poss)
My question , has any one fitted a weed hatch in a norm 24, I want to fit one in our boat because getting to old to get in the cut and cut the bags and rubbish out.

Posted - 05 Mar 2012 : 16:55:10 Hi Adi my n24 was built early 1980s im told they fitted volvo penta deisel in some,17hp with a sail boat drive 120s.This is the leg that comes through the floor via a rubber seal. i will take some pics as she is out of the water for strakes and a good scrub , and post them on the norm site, these might be of interest to you and others
Thanks for your interest Regards Keith |

Do you have any pics of this ? Very Unusual for a Cruiser to have a Stern leg not attached to the Transom.
Normally the leg will wind up out of the water to enable removal of fouled rubbish.
It may be possible to fit a weed hatch , wouldnt like to advise until seen pics of your setup
