Later this year, "Hunky 'B'" will be coming out for the strakes to be replaced and the outboard serviced (including new impeller as "preventative maintenance").
While she is out of the water I also intend to repair the scratches on her hull followed by a thorough polish and wax.
None of the scratches are too bad but they are a bit of an eyesore and inspiration has come from many of the restoration projects on this site. Having used Plastic Padding gelcoat filler I'm confident about rubbing the filled areas down and polishing to a good finish but "bright white" does tend to stand out. Does anyone here have experience of tinting gelcoat filler for a better match? Force4 do a clear gel resin and hardened together with a set of three "whitish" coloration pigments and I'm considering using something like these for the work.
Any comments would be gratefully received. |

I looked the Force4 web site and spoke to the rep at the warehouse, he recommended a resin filler called Blue Gee, it comes in a 100 mls container and is a two part mix, there are several pigments to go with it to get the colour match correct. As would be expected it is a bit pricey!! But if it does the job.
