Hello,
First time poster here!
My brother in law has a Norman 18.5 with an old 30 hp. He is thinking of upgrading to a Honda 50hp 4 stroke. What cruising /top speed could he expect with the Honda 50 hp?

Regards
John.

Mo,
Thanks for the heads up, I hadn't considered that. The boat, like myself is middle aged and showing the signs!

John.

Hello John, I wonder how old the boat is? I'm upgrading from a 15 to a 50 myself at the moment. The answer to your question may be 20K for a couple of minutes until the back of the boat falls off...
A 4 stroke 50 may weigh around 110 kilos... so your brother will need to assess the strength of his transom. There is a plethora of information on the site regarding the various ways of going about this.
All the best
Mo
