Our little 27 Norman came with a helmsman seat which was, quite frankly, past it, pretty much like her new captain. I'd like to fit a new seat which does not get in the way of entrance and exist so would probably need to be hinged so that it can be folded out of the way.
Quite understandably, most 27 footer owner do not post pictures of the seat but I'd love to see what other owners of this model have done in this regard.
Any suggestions, ideally with pictures, would be much appreciated |

Many thanks to you all for your replies.
I'm still cogitating as I want a seat which is easy to move out of the way so that my crew of one can get onshore easily. On our little boat the cockpit is in the centre of course and any of the standard-sized seats will restrict access for ingress/egress.
Still needs some thought. |

Dont know if it helpd but...a couple of weeks ago my local Asda-Walmart had some bar stalls, black leather (ette?) with chrome steel legs and a hieght adjustable gas strut for £30 I passed them with a quick glance wondering IF they might make a suitable non fixed helm seat. All moulded on the Conquest so my curiosity took me no further. Just a thought.

There are some pictures of my helm seats on my Silver Gem photos on Flickr. See the link below. They use table leg supports. A bit under engineered, but inexpensive when you compare to propper marine pedestals.

A couple of piccies would be most appreciated if you are able to post these.
In fact, any pictures of seat installations, particularly on centre cockpit Normans would be gratefully received.

On my old norman 18.5 I put some sockets into the coaming edge and made a couple of 'bum perches' for want of a better description, most usage was with the canopy down so made for good open boating without taking up space, currently have a couple of helmseats mounted to barstool legs on Leo as fixed seats are a pain in the ar5e and when the water gets lumpy I'd rather stand up.
