Is this a usable coastal boat, or is it just the 18 and 20 that are suited to the sea? Also, was the 'conquest' made in more than one length? I've seen it described by someone as 'about 18ft', another said 23ft, and the guide on here says 20ft.
I really need something with coastal capabilities and 4 berths (2 adult, 2 small child), are there any other makes/models that might be suitable? |

I've been out in our 30 footer in a 4, gusting 5 and I was starting to get nervous.
I would have been $h1tting myself in anything smaller!!!!

You are probably aware that any small boat is limited to good weather sailing, virtually non of them have any capability in the rough. Force 4 would be the max.

Cool, thanks. That's the gist of what I picked up trawling this forum, but thought it worth confirming. I live in Cornwall and it would mostly be used for fair weather coastal (south coast), estuary and river stuff, for which these boats look like a reasonable compromise/jack of all trades.
Almost bought one yesterday, without having the first clue as to what make/model it was, just managed to work it by pictures on the internet. |

The hull itself should be as good as a regular 20, the conquest only came in 20' size (20' 3"), you probably would want kids on board in anything other than good conditions as I would imagine they would roll a lot in a fairly small swell, plenty of hp (50+)to get it planning, check transom filler for rot first.
