Posted - 05 Dec 2011 : 08:54:40 In the mid-seventies, mu Wife and I were involved with the Thames and Severn Canal Trust but in those days any meaningful restoration of the Stroudwater/Thames and Severn seemed impossible. Now, with Phase 1A, a significant length of newly navigable waterway is in sight and Phase 1B will restore connection with the national network. I hope that one day, we will sail “Hunky ‘B’” down to Brimscombe Port and maybe even through Sapperton Tunnel ! Anyone on this site with a trailered Norman (or Dawncraft or whatever) who is looking for events in 2012 might like to consider the trailboat festival planned for near Stroud in June – the details can be found at http://www.stroudonwater.org.uk/. We are planning to attend although "Hunk 'B'" will not be coming (don’t have a 27-foot trailer) and look forward to seeing some Normans in attendance. If anyone reading this does attend and would like to chat about Normans, or anything else (even Politics or Religion), drop me an email at stan.owen@btinternet.com and we’ll arrange to catch up.
Have a great Christmas everyone - humbug!
