HI everyone,I recently had my Norman 20 put on the trailer and brought back to my house.The outboard leg was covered in river grime as was just above the antifouling.I attempted to wash this off with a scrubbing brush and soapy water but it diddnt touch the grime.Out of desperation i tryed some cilit bang which was lurking in the garage, i could not belive my eyes as the grime fell off with out any scrubbing. i just hosed it off. my old white johnson outboard looked like new. hope this is a help to someone. "Lime and Grime: is the best for ...errr Limescale ...???
Degreaser is best for engines and bilges.....
Perhaps they should rebrand their range for the marine market..... OI!! hands off, it was my idea....!!

Have looked at Cillit Bang and there is quite a range available.
Was it the "Power Cleaner Degreaser" which you used?

For Gel coat cleaning for the new season we swear by Stardrops
Usually around £1
Dilute with water , its a winner
Removes all the green without much effort

I've recently removed years of limescale from my outboard using stuff called HG Hagesan blue. Its designed for cleaning taps etc and has returned the bottom of the outboard to showroom condition

My boats have been neglected by me due to work now that I am retired. More time do not believe it? Unable to get a suitable machine polisher that will run from a small generator at a price I can afford. I am using my sander with a nylon pad to take the hard work out off cleaning the boat

Cilit Bang is for wimps & JUST so yesterday.
Go for as many skull & crossbones warnings as possible & hope for the hissing/bubbling/steaming/acrid fumes indicating a successful product.
I find a mixture of Mr Muscle oven cleaner & allow wheel cleaning acid will remove most boaty stains!

Should you have been wondering about the lack of plant growth and any other greenery around Floods Ferry? You now have a clue as to another liberal user of this stuff! |
