Posted - 31 Aug 2011 : 21:07:33 We were thinking of changing our new norman 32's name as we read somewhere, that it changes the boat's luck ( rather than being just bad luck)& she needs some good luck We bought "Nostalgia" from nr Goole and cruised her back to her new berth at Preston Brook..with lots of "trials and tribulations"
..on taking her name boards off this evening as phase 1 of her renaming.. "Imagine" our surprise to find etched on the reverse of the plastic nameboards and sternboard the name "Imagine" with a home port of ...Preston Brook...spooky lol! The side nameboards were screwed to hardwood plaques on each side and they carry a different earlier name, "Dart" carved in and done in gold paint.. I dont feel worried about changing a name now that wasnt hers anyway .. If anyone knows "Ayup Mi'Duck" by any of her former alias' I would love to hear cheers Pam

Posted - 01 Sep 2011 : 00:04:55 We decided to change the name on our 32 From Florence to Coelbren drifter. I didn't fancy being nicknamed Zebedy. Coelbren being Welsh and the name of our country residence. |

Posted - 31 Aug 2011 : 23:41:39 I would consider changing it back to one of the previous names, I would feel no bad luck could befall me that way. Much the reverse, I would consider that lucky.
My first boat was called Alpha and I liked it and felt no need to change it but when we traded up and bought Silver Gem we were all for changing the name until we discovered that she came with a long and detailed history and some "celebrity" Thames boaters as previous owners. It felt wrong to change it and now 4 years on nothing would make me change it.
