Hi all - being new to this Norman boating, I knew I'd have some silly questions, and I am sure that this is one of them!
My Norman 20 that I am in the process of getting back into the water has abattery switch on it, with Off - 1 - Both - 2 marked on it.
Can someone explain, preferably in words of one syllable, the correct operation. Cleary the "Off" isolates, but is it for charging, use of batteries, running, or what??
For instance, should it be 1 for starting, both when running, 2 when moored up but want power, Off when the boat's not in use? Told you it was going to eb a silly question!!! |

The usual idea is to decide which battery you want to use for starting and which for domestic, select 'both' when running to charge both, select 'off' when not at the boat, select the battery chosen for domestic use when moored up and not running so you don't end up with 2 flat batteries that way if you kill it off you can select the other battery in the morning to start the engine.
Don't select off with the engine running, you will kill the regulator.
