This is the first Norman I ever owned, first boat of any kind in fact.
After a week on the broads on the cheapest boat we could get we had a look on our local river for day hires and found out just how expensive it is, on of the places we looked didn't do day hire, but it did have a sale line........
On a whim I made a cheeky offer on Merlin, a Norman 20, at the time I knew nothing about outboard prices, canopy prices, boat safety certificates, oh yes and the bottom gearcase was rotten to bits, engine was an Archimedes Penta 35HP 2 stroke 3 cylinder with no hope of spares.
After a short sharp learning curve I did the decent thing and crapped myself and put it back on the sale line to cut my losses, with a quick tidy up and dry out of the bilge I came away £100 up, had I lost I doubt I would ever have bought another boat, but I did and been poor ever since.....
